Hi, I'm Nancy Ouyang.
MIT mechanical engineer (BS '13) and Harvard computer scientist (PhD '23). I completed my PhD researching both vision-based touch sensors for robotics and applications of machine learning to counter-trafficking. My thesis committee consisted of Professors Roberto Rigobon, David Parkes, and Finale Doshi-Velez.
I'm a PhD graduate from Harvard SEAS (Computer Science, 2023), and before that earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT (2013). My thesis focused on natural language processing applied to counter-trafficking.
In robotics, I worked in tactile sensing and robot manipulation with Prof. Robert Howe at Harvard, Prof. Robert Platt at Northeastern, and Prof. Edward Adelson at MIT. Prior to grad school I worked in bio-inspired robotics at the MIT Biomimetics Lab under Dr. Albert Wang.
Between degrees I co-founded NarwhalEdu, shipping a drawing robot arm kit to ~100 students across six countries, and served as president of MITERS, MIT's student-run machine shop. I'm based in Boston, MA.
